Chapter 1: The Murder in Mumbai
The bustling streets of Mumbai were alive with sounds and colors, but on the morning of the murder, an eerie silence cloaked the lavish villa of Vishal Kapoor. The wealthy businessman was found dead in his study, sprawled across his desk, a half-finished glass of whiskey beside him. The room smelled of leather and cigar smoke, with a hint of something darker lingering in the air.
Ganesh Rao, known as the "Indian Sherlock Holmes," arrived at the scene, his keen eyes scanning the surroundings. He was a tall man with a slight hunch, and his thick glasses often slid down his nose. But it was his mind that stood out, sharp and alert. His reputation as a detective was unmatched—he was known for unraveling even the most tangled mysteries.
As he stepped into the study, the police officers stood back, allowing Ganesh to take charge. “What do we know?” he asked, his voice calm and steady.
The lead officer, Inspector Patel, shrugged. “Not much. The house staff heard nothing unusual. The family is devastated and claims he was in good spirits last night.”
Ganesh examined the room meticulously. “And yet,” he murmured, noticing a torn piece of paper stuck under the desk. He carefully retrieved it, revealing a single word: “betrayal.” His mind raced with possibilities. Who could want to harm a man like Vishal Kapoor?
As he left the villa, Ganesh made a mental note of the people close to the victim. Each one likely held a key to the truth, and he needed to speak with them soon.
